Abstract

|
The purpose of this paper is to examine how the principle of subsidiarity is applied in family policy in Germany. The principle of subsidiarity is based on the social ethics of Catholic Church. Through this study, it is attempted to investigate the family related clauses in basic law and find an application of principle of subsidiarity in the family policy in Germany. The principle of subsidiarity has both positive and negative characteristics. Traditionally, the negative characteristics is emphasized, but recently nation’s active intervention in the family is justified by the positive characteristics of priciple of subsidiarity.
